Timrod's school colors are RED and BLACK. On Fridays, students and faculty wear their Timrod t-shirts to display their school "spirit". Our school mascot is the Tiger! We are proud to call ourselves the "Timrod Tigers!"
Timrod Elementary School cultivates an environment where high expectations of students is top priority. We help all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment. We foster this environment with the implementation of our school mission which is “Students First!” Our vision statement is "Timrod students are highly engaged, motivated, and responsible citizens of an ever-changing society.”
Our teachers are dedicated to providing best practices in the classroom by implementing effective teaching strategies through curriculum-based instruction that includes: Blended Learning, Workshop Model, Dreambox Learning as an online math program, Lexia Core5 for reading, Science Kits, small group guided reading, and Reading Recovery. In the coming year, we will implement Project Lead the Way, a student-based learning program to build and strengthen science skills, preparing students to compete in the workforce, solve challenging problems, and contribute to world growth in scientific fields. Teachers will guide students as they lead their own learning and build science knowledge by exploring and studying provided modules on their own.
Developing and exhibiting good character is a school-wide goal for students and staff. PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support) is an ongoing program for the school community and it's based on three tiers of support. We use data to select, monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Students are celebrated for displaying positive behavior during the school day with tokens, character coupons, and recognition over the intercom system.
Timrod provides a vast number of extracurricular activities for our students to develop character, responsibility, leadership skills and school pride. These activities include: BETA Club, Jump Rope Club, Drama Club, Good News Club, Student Brigadiers, Student Marshals, Band, String, Chorus, Dance Team, BOB Team, and service projects.
Timrod strives to make sure that all students are academically successful and we share that responsibility with parents and community leaders. We are committed to building relationships with our students, parents, and community. We strive to teach students how to set goals and take ownership for their learning to better prepare them to be successful life-long learners.

Mrs. Jill Fitzkee
I am a native of Virginia, but have lived in and been part of the Florence community and the Florence One education system for over twenty years. I am a proud parent of three daughters who were educated in Florence One Schools. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Virginia Tech and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason University. I taught middle school for six years in Loudoun County, Virginia before moving to Florence. I taught in the elementary classroom in Florence One Schools for twelve years before moving into the Curriculum/Technology Coordinator position at Savannah Grove Elementary School in 2020. It was a joy to move into this position to extend my passion for learning with staff as well as students. At the beginning of the 2022 school year, I was blessed with the opportunity to move to the Assistant Principal position at Savannah Grove Elementary School. I am thankful that all of my past experiences have led me to this time of becoming Principal at Timrod Elementary School.
I love learning and the process of learning, whether it is with students or staff. I love to see the light bulb turn on when the students or staff start to learn a new concept or start to connect the many previous concepts that have already been learned. Children are the future and I am honored to be a participant in the process of students becoming responsible learners and citizens. We are Team Timrod!

Mrs. Faith Godbold
Hello, everyone! My name is Mrs. Godbold and I am the Curriculum Technology Coordinator (CTC) at Timrod. For over 20 years now, I've had the pleasure of teaching students and teachers in the classroom and through training sessions in F1S and across the state of South Carolina. In addition, I've taught gifted students in grades three through six and I previously worked as a Digital Learning Specialist for the District.
As CTC, I help our teachers with student learning, teacher practice, curriculum, and instructional technology. I enjoy meeting with teachers and working alongside our curriculum staff as we plan professional development sessions to help teachers move our students forward.
When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and family and I love running our small business.
Literacy Coach
Mrs. Demetrice Legette
Welcome!!! I am Mrs. Legette. I am so happy and overly excited to be apart of your lives for another great year at Henry Timrod!! I am very thankful for the opportunity to be your Literacy Coach and will work effectively with all of our teachers, administrators, students and parents to help all of our students reach their fullest potential. I have been teaching since 2003. This is my third year serving as Timrod's Literacy Coach. I was a Reading Recovery teacher for seven years and taught first grade for nine years. The best part is that every year was spent at Henry Timrod!! I really enjoy working and interacting with our children everyday. I attended Columbia College and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's Degree in Divergent Learning. In addition, I have taken courses through Clemson University to obtain my Reading Recovery certification. I currently live in Florence with my husband and three daughters. I like to teach, sing, dance, talk, shop, and travel every minute I get. I can't wait to learn more about each of you.
Mrs. D. Legette
